INTERNATIONAL STANDARDIZATION
With the increased globalization of trade and
commerce, standards have a direct impact on
market penetration and competitiveness. How is
the standards development process responding
the globalization of business? Should the
product be built to the standards of the
manufacturer or the purchaser? What standards
development process should be used? ASTM
International, one of the largest voluntary
standards development organizations in the
world, has numerous initiatives underway to
globalize its standards development process and
expand the broad based use and application of
ASTM standards. In this presentation, Kathie
Morgan, General Manager of Technical
Committee Support, ASTM International, will
discuss the changing world of global
standardization including recent ASTM
initiatives and coordination between ASTM
International and the International Standards
Organization (ISO).
